Tyan Corporation has always been recognized as one of the top server/workstation motherboard manufacturer in the industry. They started out by manufacturing products for Sun Compatible systems and with time moved into the server/workstation market. With their success in the high-end area, Tyan decided to focus on the home market.

If you have been following our motherboard reviews in the past few months, you might remember our articles on their products. Their latest Desktop PC boards have gotten our approvals for good design and acceptable performance, while they did not end being the best; they managed to perform quite well, especially in their memory bandwidth benchmarks that were superior to the competition boards.

Tyan manages to produce quality desktop products with the “high-end” mark in mind. Maximum expansion has always been a critical point for Tyan’s latest desktop PC platforms. For example, they care less for the low end AMR slots that the OEM market uses and focuses more on the end user, that most of the time could use that maximal PCI implantation. In this review, we will be taking a look for the first time at one of Tyan’s high-end server motherboards featuring the ServerWorks (LE) chipset.
