A Little Rant
When
did advertising revenues enter into this formula?.?.
We
only accept advertising deals that we believe that will be beneficial to our readers.
The sad truth is that we have to have advertising or our site would also go under.
After nearly three years I have to tell you this is a constant source of disagreements
and conflict as we want to be as objective as possible but we have to accept advertising
deals to pay our bills. So, we have committed ourselves to advertising in situations
where we are confident our readers will benefit from the arrangement. We won't
work with just anybody, and we don't accept advertising for products that we haven't
personally worked with. That's our committment to you. Here are a few things I
ask of you as a committment:
1.
Support sites that work hard to be objective.
2. Never assume that all sites separate their review schedule from their advertising
schedule.
3. Share your experiences with others so we can all learn.
4. Be wary of thinly disquised press releases which appear to be news posts.
5. Get invloved - our
forums are YOUR area for discussion. Use them for whatever you like. We purposely
didn't impose a lot of rules to keep the free flow of thoughts and information
alive. We will edit in very specific cases but I hope never to have to exercise
that.
